Event: The Path to Net Zero - Policies to meet Net Zero

The CCC’s Sixth Carbon Budget advice identified the need for a programme of cross-economy policy to drive the transition to Net Zero. This includes public engagement, technology support, international action and driving a just transition.
This session considers the Climate Change Committee’s advice on policy as part of the Sixth Carbon Budget, informed by the Expert Advisory Group on Policy - a group of leading policy experts, commissioned by the CCC to look at how to deliver the Net Zero transition in practice.

* An introduction by member of the CCC, Rebecca Heaton
* A presentation by the CCC's Team Leader for Carbon Budgets, Mike Hemsley on the Sixth Carbon Budget advice and the policy challenge for reaching Net Zero
* A presentation by Cameron Hepburn, Professor of Environmental Economics at the University of Oxford and Chair of the Expert Advisory Group on Policy
* Responses by members of the Expert Advisory Group on Policy:
- Giles Wilkes, Senior Fellow at Institute for Government, Specialist Partner at Flint Global, and former Special Advisor to Theresa May and Vince Cable
- Bryony Worthington, Co-Director at Quadrature Climate Foundation and architect of the UK’s Climate Change Act
