You say put away your things and clean your room. They hear take out all your toys and inventory them. Then start working on your letter to Santa even though Christmas is 6 months away

“Go to bed!” With the exception of the bed wetting part, that’s definitely my 11-year-old!

“Clean your room!” Again, my 11-year-old! Same way with other house chores too, she’ll try to find a bajillion ways to skip or dodge them, only to get busted when I insist on an inspection!

My 16-year-old is better about chores, except that when she does her laundry, she’ll think nothing of “forgetting” to get her laundry out of the dryer or think OUR laundry day is hers too, so I’ll go to do our laundry and end up screaming her name from the laundry room because her stuff is still in the washer or dryer and now MY workday is behind!

Emptying her share of the dishwasher, same story. She can’t do that in the morning because she has to “look right” for school. The result? A sink full of dirty dishes because I can’t load them in throughout the day, which means the rest of the kitchen can’t get done either! It’s MADDENING!

totally right with the room cleaning. I'll find all kinds of crap under that bed and in the closet! And they really think they have gotten away with it too!

Thank you for this video! I have a 10 year old aspie son who never hears a word I say, he guesses and 90% of the time is completely wrong. To know that other parents do struggle with these same issues is a huge relief. Thank you

my son absolutely hates having a haircut. he is 8 years old! when its time for a hair cut he cries and goes and hides in his room and and makes it this HUGE deal. dude its a hair cut and you get to go to a super cool barbershop. he dont want you to look like a hippy or has been.

I was told that you should start your children on chores as soon as they can walk and tell you, "Mommy, I want to help!"
