The problem with shorts, is they are only good in the short-term. They receive one or two bursts of views and then are dead forever.
While longform videos will continue to gather views over time.

I think that's why animated series that were exclusively shorts, Chikn Nuggit for instance, seem to be putting a heavy focus on uploading regular videos that are compilations of their shorts.

Though I suppose that means the optimal strategy is just making videos that can be clipped/compilated into the other category to get double the value.
