EMPATHY TEST - DOUBTS LYRICS

For all your doubts I will be strong.
The more you put me through
The more, I will belong to you.
And I long to be free from this apathy.
I'm sick of playing mind games
In your basement flat in Chelsea.

So tell me what you want from me
And I promise I will be
More than you need.

At the end of Hollywood Road you fell apart.
You could blame the cocaine,
You could, blame an empty heart.
But I long to be, long to belong.
I long to be, long to belong.

So tell me what you want from me
And I promise I will be
More than you need.

There is no substitute for love
No feeling
Tell me when you’ve had enough.
There is no substitute for love
No feeling
Tell me when you’ve had enough.
There is no substitute for love
No feeling
Tell me when you’ve had enough.
There is no substitute for love
No feeling
Tell me when you’ve had enough.

There is no substitute for love
No feeling
Tell me when you’ve had enough.
There is no substitute for love
No feeling
Tell me when you’ve had enough.
There is no substitute for love
No feeling
Tell me when you’ve had enough.
There is no substitute for love
No feeling
Tell me when you’ve had enough.

I love trying to interpret their lyics. You can only make approximations and can decide what the song is about to you personally. Here's an interpretation I've been thinking about:
For all your doubts I will be strong.
The more you put me through
The more, I will belong to you.

And I long to be free from this apathy.
I'm sick of playing mind games
In your basement flat in Chelsea.
He's in love with someone that is harming themselves somehow (the cocaine). They hurt him by doing so. He wants to be with the other person, but they either don't realize or don't feel the same. He wants to break the apathy the other person has towards him.

So tell me what you want from me
And I promise I will be
More than you need.
He wants to be there for the other person, he wants to give them his love.

At the end of Hollywood Road you fell apart.
You could blame the cocaine,
You could, blame an empty heart.
But I long to be, long to belong.
I long to be, long to belong.
Cocaine is either literal or meaning some sort of self harm (addiction, abuse, drugs). The other person doesn't feel well. He wants to love and to be loved by them. To feel belonging.

Hollywood road could be the place where the other person started to feel unwell. (Hollywood Road is a Street in london, and Chelsea is an area in London. Empathy Test is UK based.)

There is no substitute for love

There is no substitute for love

There is no substitute for love

The substitute for love could be the cocaine. (self harm) When the other person has had enough of hurting themselves, or finally breaks down, he wants to be there for them.
Again, this is just one interpretation. I'm not saying it's correct. I can think of a couple more things they could mean.
