Sushi, the Shoebill Stork

Sushi, the Shoebill Stork lives in The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre and is SUCH a character. Some friends and family joined me and went to see him. He's a loving soul and seems to enjoy the company!

I love how the park rangers at these sancutaries know how the animals tick and all the spots they like being touched to get their attention.

when shoebills shake their head and bow it down, they are showing friendship and trust. it won’t eat you for heaven’s sake! you’re a bit too big and they don’t have teeth. Geese, on the other hand, have saw-like teeth. don’t piss one off! 😋🌷

I came across this bird for the first time today, all thanks to YouTube. And I've researched about the Shoebill so much today just out of sheer curiosity. It's sad to see that the species is endangered and even critically endangered in some parts of Africa. I hope we can protect these magnificent birds.

Wow! The more I watch, the more impressive Sushi's [edit] handler comes across! So skillful at handling her personality in the situation! She could accidentally really hurt people, but her owner gently coaxes her through each step!
