While now most often used in Alice-related contexts, the association of a "Cheshire cat" with grinning predates the 1865 book. One distinguishing feature of the Alice-style Cheshire Cat involves a periodic gradual disappearance of its body, leaving only one last visible trace: its iconic grin. He belongs to the Duchess.

How is it that 2010 Alice in Wonderland looks so much better than the 2013 Once Upon a time in Wonderland. In my opinion 2010 and Through the looking glass are the best versions of the Cheshire car.
