How ironic that microsoft pushed DX12 so much when it came out but they didn't use it for flight simulator 2020.

Something else to look at. There's a dozen different reviews of the RTX3080 on a 10700K or a 10900K, but only one review from a reputable site on AMD architecture. If I really need to know how the same card runs on Intel I have Gamers Nexus so for me it's nice to have 2 sites I trust taking different approaches and still coming out with similar data.

I agree that 1080p/60hz monitors are definitely entry level, but it's difficult to call 1080p/240hz and especially 360hz monitors entry level. 1080p benchmarks are still very useful for many high refresh rate gamers looking to maximize their monitors with higher end hardware.

Hi Steve, I love all of your (and Tim's :D) videos and am a long time fan of the channel, but I'd like to propose an improvement: When watching at the static graphs, it's sometimes hard to follow (or find) which column you're referring to when you're spreaking as the names of the products are similar. So would it be possible to "flash" or "highlight" the column when you move to talk about say between the GPU's 4K data from 1440p for example?

you might have already mentioned this somewhere in another video, but how come you used a 3950x instead of a 3900x or even a 3800x? I was to understand that the 3950x has worse single thread performance by a fair amount due to having to clock lower all-core than its lower model siblings.

Very glad you included the 1080p results, there are people that run high end gpu's with low rez monitors and the more data you provide the better.

Your data for the 1080p, with 2080Ti vs 3080 is very interesting. It contradicts the long held myth that lower resolution predicts future proofing as newer and faster GPUs arrive, making the faster CPU @ low res pull ahead more. The data shows the gap remains identical, with the faster GPU. There are some very good reasons for this, but its too complex to cover in a short comment. Either way, a thorough look and great video!

I would truly appreciate the same method applied to "less powerfull" cpu's though. In example, taking in consideration the amazing performances in games of both the 'i5 10600k' and maybe the Ryzen 7 3700x/3800x, in relation with their actually cool be awesome. We all LOVE performances....but also 'budget' solutions with those 3K Nvidia serie would give an amazing gaming experience while saving some money. I bet the differences in FPS would not be so impressive compared to those 2 monsters in the vid. Am i wrong ?

Love the long list of benchmarks. One minor thing I'd like to see added is what API the game uses. It would be really interesting to know if there's a pattern such as one processor leads in DX12, Vulkan, DX11, etc...
