Taft wanted to be Supreme Court Chief Justice. He got his wish in 1921 when Harding appointed him.

Although TR and Taft agreed on most issues in 1908, their view on exercising Presidential Powers were almost polar opposites. TR felt that as long as the Constitution or Federal Law doesnt prevent a President from doing something, then its legal.

However, Taft preferred to look at things from a Judge's perscpective. Taft looked for something in the Consitution or some statute of Congress to see, if an action is legal. Taft also looked at precedents set by previous Presidents.

One thing I always hate about historical takes/reenactments is that Taft was "weak, didnt fight and didnt stand up like Teddy did" when the reality is he busted more Trusts and Monopolies in his 4 years than TR did in his 7.9. Taft deserves respect

TR should've run again in '08. He could argue you should only be elected twice, which would've been true. Set up Taft to run in '12 and he probably serves 2 terms and Wilson the ultra racist is never president.
