Can’t go wrong with a Grizzly Gunsmithing Lathe. What they offer for price, the quality, reliability and repeatability is definitely there for the longevity ! There is definitely some tweaking to be had with them or rather some customization of your machines lol but other than a few tweaks for a measly price point you get a decent lathe built for gunsmiths designed by the owner of Grizzly who became a hobbyist gunsmith from the passion of shooting and building guns. That says something to me anyways. No it’s not a precision Japanese or Swiss or English lathe or anything like that. There aren’t many good American lathes left in top tier running conditions without a full restoration needed same to be said with the latter hence most people go with a Grizzly or Taiwanese made lathe these days for less money or a used lathe listed above in as best condition as possible but man do they go for a pretty pretty penny lol.

I have a question. If I ever bought a 475 Linebaugh/480 Ruger Bisley BFR and wanted a barrel band at the front of the 6.5 inch long barrel to be machined to hold against the ejector rod tube at the front to mitigate recoil impulse from loosening the ejector tube. Could that be done in your gunsmith shop?!?!

Is this hard trade to get into if you have no knowledge of it.

You can make $5, 000 with that lathe real quick. It pays for itself.
