FYI you can regenerate the liquid by putting it in an oven at 250C and all the water will come off leaving solid calcium chloride behind. Even heating the liquid up to (say) 150C will get rid of most of the water and regenerate it quite a bit. It doesn't have to be solid to work, it's just easier to handle.

Isnt it cheaper just to buy the stuff again... how long would it take to reform 1L of liquid (assuming its fully saturated)in a 1KW oven?

With an electric dehumidifier you can generate same amount of water in couple of hours.

That water you have collected is now the best weed/grass killer available my dad had moisture traps like so in his caravan and when they were full he killed my garden with it as he poured it out took 2 year's for it to recover!!

So what do we do with the hardened calcium chloride after that - trash and replace?

Hi, how should calcium chloride be disposed of safely for personal health as well as the environment? :)

Ive been using this method of dehumidification for years and got some info for interesed parties.

Yes it works. No, its not for every situation. As many said, upside is that its passive noelectricity. Downside is that its corrosive ( cars, bad idea) and doesnt extract a lot of water. If you often gerenate humidity ( shower) get an electric one. If you need to keep garage humidity down to prevent mold growth, works epic.

0.5kg for 80m2 per year is sufficient.

I see no reason at all why you can't continue to use the salt block until it all dissolve

How do you know that the remaining stuff is not usable any more? When do you need to exchange the salt? THX!
