I hate how the marketing literally fools the audience. The fact that Henry Cavill was in front and center of the poster and his name was mentioned first in the cast list but turns out, his screentime was only about 5 minutes in a 139 minutes movie is such a bad marketing scam

When the thumbnail is Dan scratching his head, you know it’s gonna be a fun review.

I enjoyed the sheer absurdity of having a plot twist every five minutes once they started, every new one exponentially more bizarre that the previous, but I do also recognise it's not what everyone would enjoy. The CGI was indeed terrible but the cast was absolutely brilliant, I thought, and for Sam Rockwell alone it is a movie worth seeing if one can go along for the ride of the silliness if its plot.

The Lost City did it better. Female novelist is swept into a plot involving the coincidence that the plot and characters of her novels are actually real.

Just got back from taking the family to see it and we all had a great time watching it. Gave us a reason to go out and have fun.

Maybe the real agent Argylle were the friends we made along the way…

I enjoyed it for what it was. I liked having to constantly guess at what was going to happen. I agree the CGI was VERY bad in several areas and it did drag in a couple spots (in 3rd act particularly) and could have done with a 10-15 minute runtime trim but overall I had fun with it.

This sounds like a “maybe I’ll watch it on a long haul flight one day” type film. Love all your reviews, hope you’re on the mend!

The fact that DiscussingFilm predicted the plot back in 2021 way before the film began production is absolutely hilarious. Somebody brought that up recently on Twitter and my god it'll never stop being funny 😂

I watched this yesterday in the UK and although I thought it was overly long and very silly, I had an absolute blast watching it. I thought Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell were great together and some of the music infused action scenes were incredibly fun. It's by no means a perfect movie, but the fact that The Beekeeper has almost double the Rotten Tomatoes score of this film is wild!

Matthew Vaughn’s falloff as a director is something that needs a 70 minute analysis.

I wish filmmakers who are trying to make an original movie with no existing IP could just make an one contained entertaining movie first without having to worry about setting up a huge universe. John Wick, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Marvel succeed in making a huge universe because they managed to make an one contained movie first, the sequel happened because the first movie was an unpredictable success. It's cool that Vaughn has a plan in making a universe but he should've take a step back in making a contained movie first with well written characters before going to his big plans

Watched it last night. I didn't hate it, it was alright. The CGI was hard to ignore, especially the cat.

Me and my mom saw it last night and love it. Yes, the film felt too long. She also had a confusing storyline. But, hey, we don't get a movie like this anymore.

I loved the movie personally, I didn't notice the "obvious green screen" or the cheap looking effects. I thought the Smoke Fight scene and the Oil Skating scene were absolutely amazing. And frankly, the "frequent twists" were really nice, it felt like a mystery being slowly unraveled without an obvious answer jumping out at me. It wasn't a smart movie, it was a "good dumb fun" movie you settle into and go along with the ride to enjoy. If you treat it like an Austin Powers movie with a deadpan sense of humor it's a lot of fun

Totally agree with you about Cavill. He could be the greatest Bond ever, he should have been in numerous UNCLE movies already so it was a golden opportunity to snatch him away and make a fantastic spy movie built around him.

Saw this tonight with the family. We all enjoyed the movie. It didn't blow our socks off, but it was worth a watch on the big screen for sure. Especially the colourful rainbow smoke action/dance sequence near the end. It was just fun and vibrant to absorb.

Was I the only one that thought the cat was going to be a spy? With so many twists it wouldn’t surprise me.

This movie is like if someone added too many ingredients to a recipe, undercooked it, and then tried to keep adding spices while youre trying to eat it.
