I spent a couple of nights at the 'Skirrid Mountain Inn' about 15 years ago. Probably one of the most welcoming pubs I've ever stayed at, and the most comfortable nights sleep ever once the 'Paranormal investigation' was over. Well worth a visit!

The greyhound in Derby should be on this list, it was used to give the last meal to prisoners, before they were hung outside, the windows still have last messages and the names of prisoners etched on them, having worked there, I experienced many a weird feeling and unexplained happenings, I believe it is Home to at last count 4 ghosts of hanged men.

About 5 or 6 years ago I worked for a month at the Spaniards Inn in Hampstead. Sometimes I would do the closing shift. The feeling was kind of weird inside the pub, specially upstairs when I was alone. I didn't know if it was a mind suggestion, the mind playing games on me, after hearing my colleagues talking about hauntings, but to say the truth I never saw anything happening there, just the energy of the house. Nothing ever moved by itself, no weird noises or smells, etc.
They would say that the outside gate would open by itself… of course, it was an old gate and that's what the wind does to doors and gates that don't close right...
At the time I was more mad about the managers making me work 8 hours without having a small break for a snack than with the possibility of ghosts. Be aware of the living, the dead can be harmless (they just keep close to you to suck you life-force/energy). And then again, these places want to keep the fame of being haunted for a business and profit matters. Probably you guys have more spirits inside your own houses than these places might have, ahahah.

We stayed at the ye olde kings head in chester (The oldest pub in chester and has been on the most haunted programme) and had multiple strange happenings, from children playing marbles down the stairs as we walked down, to a sword being picked up and dropped on its own in the banquet room. the drawers shook  everytime my boyfriend went to put clothes away. My fella had to sleep with the light on after for 2 nights!

The only spirits I serve is vodka, brandy, gin and whiskey. Now get out of my pub!

It's pronounced Dar-bee, not Dur-bee.

Round my way, two pubs are haunted; one by a poltergeist who moves glasses around the bar and the other by a woman in a red dress who appears near the fireplace. A friend of mine used to work at the first pub; she experienced the ghost several times while on shift. Once, she reached for a clean glass and it was snatched out of her hand and thrown on the floor, where it didn't break or even bounce.

I stayed in York for a week a few years back, and had dinner at the Golden Fleece a few times. Yes, sitting next to the skeleton at the bar. I asked the bartender if he had seen anything ghostly, and he said no, but one of the ladies working there had. He sent her out to talk to me, and she said one night after closing when she was washing dishes, there was clearly someone whispering in her ear, but there was no one there.

Sad to see Marsden Grotto not on the list. It's such an interesting one because its such a beautiful pub, with a bunch of ghost stories attached to it with such a horrific background. There's a huge amount of people that have decided to end their lives there either by jumping over the cliff side or by driving their cars over the cliff on to the beach below. It's such a frequent occurance there that when I was chilling beside the cliffs on a bench a jogger doubled back on their route to ask me if I was okay. In terms of just bloody history and intrigue its a hard contender.
