OMFG. Decades ago Eric S Raymond gave a talk at my college, and he also unironically said that if we wanted to make money and write software we should get a job at McDonalds. This was in the 1990s when Bill Gates was on the news for being the richest person in the planet. Dude single-handedly turned off the entire CS class from OSS. I'd forgotten all about that talk XD

If everyone refused to do this the rest of us wouldn't have to fight so hard for reasonable working conditions :'). Having said that, a stern attitude and knowing what you want gets you a long way.

I am a junior engineer and I think this way. I didn't know there are others who also have this kind of a vision, but also end-up destroying their finances by not executing it in a sustainable way. Fortunately, I haven't started to execute my plan.
It's a hard truth to accept that OSS isn't it what used to be. It just makes me sad about the modern day software/tech world.
