Sony α6100 - Its WAY BETTER than people say!

The Sony α6100 is an awesome camera for content creators. If you can get it on sale right now for $598 at B&H it's worth it. Otherwise, I would still recommend the A6400 instead.

I had researched both the A6100 and A6400 and opted for the A6100. Between the two, I know B&H has a special body-only $150 difference. K&M is $300. Depending on where you order from from, date and specials, the difference is closer to $250-400 less for a 6100 for a turn-key package. On both models the lens and camera coupling are susceptable to weather. Yea on the S-Log. Some have commented that there's a lot you can do in post with Davinci Resolve. Yea on Magnesium feeling more solid than plastics. I had done some 200g vibration/drop tests on aircraft electronics and I agree with this comment: "Plastics generally do better when they strike a hard surface because the shell can flex slowing down the impact jarring the interior components less than a metal rigid body would. A metal body falling against concrete would be a hard shock to everything inside." Regarding features, going from a 6000 to a 6100/6400 is more significant wouldn't you say ? Having the Flip Up Screen, 4K video & Mic Input are significant. I'd like to see the price of the IBIS feature on the elite models come down as they are over-priced since the video still looks bumpy on the 6500/6600 Perhaps when the 6700 is introduced ?. As you see in many comments on lenses, price should be a factor in comparing the degree in which model 2 is better than model 1.

I left Sony A and E mount several years ago. I regret it now at times. But alas I could always just buy up their camera bodies and lenses again. Especially knowing how useful they are for a VLOG in 4K.

It’s 300 dollar difference, with that u can get a6100 and sigma 30mm 1.4 for the price of a6400 with no lens!

I just bought one, too. I spent 712€ on the body and 210€ on a Sigma 30mm F/1.4.
I'll use this camera for my YouTube channels, but also for taking pictures: portraits, street photography and architecture.
I'm finding the autofocus quite reliable, and you said that it's made out of plastic, but with the Sigma lens it feels substantial in the hand. My former camera is a Nikon D3300, so I confront the a6100 to that DSLR.

Solid video, I was just on best buy debating if I should make the purchase. For the price it's a steal, I'm going to buy one and just color grade in post just to get my film making started. This will have to do the trick until I can get my hands on a 6400 or 6500

You missed a difference, which might be important for some:
-It lacks Auto ISO Min SS controls if you want to shoot in aperture priority

My go to for real estate video. This and the sigma 16. Both under 1k combined. Anything more is overkill for something only being viewed on vimeo. Makes a great B camera for weddings. Don't look or feel stupid with 2 A7riv's strapped to my hips. Everyone gets gear crazy when gems like this exist.

You make alot of compelling arguments for me to replace my Panasonic G85 for an A6100. But I'm currently using my friend's A6500 and the way Sony handles the highlights is crazy. I feel like I have to underexpose my video by like 3 stops just to not blow out my white shirt.

Bought the Canon M50 mark II a few months back and sold it shortly after, and bought the a6100..I hated the soft video quality of the M50 so much so that nowadays i kinda able to tell which video is taken with a Canon budget friendly cameras. The Canon 1080p is like 720p or even less in comparison to other 1080p videos...Enough of the "skin tone" obsession, people can look at themselves all day long, for all i care....
