Scalene Trigger Point Release

preview_player
Показать описание
It's worth remembering that trigger points in the psoas muscle (causing shortening of the psoas) can lead to adaptations in the scalenes, resulting in a short contracted state, thereby pulling up the ribcage and sometimes even affecting respiratory efficiency.

Clients may present with numbness in the anterior chest, the upper back, and the lateral-anterior shoulder down the arm.

In many cases the pain may refer into the thumb and second digit.

The scalenes are a complex group of muscles with varying muscle fiber lengths, and therefore demonstrate the potential for many trigger points.

Excellent palpatory skills (and a lot of study and practice) may be required to successfully locate and treat these trigger points.

Great demonstration! Thank you so much for showing me the muscles that don’t like me anymore . Meaning they cause a lot of my discomfort.

This is the most debilitating painful suicidal problem you’ll ever encounter. I know what these beasts can do to someone. I think going at them directly isn’t the answer more working on the upper traps, whole body alignment and other areas around them is a better option

Great video doc. Quick question, I’ve read different opinions on how to treat tight anterior scalenes. Some say to stretch and release them. Others say, do not stretch, exercise and strengthen because they are only tight because they are weak! Which is it?

How do we check if this is what the problem is? will a CT scan show anything? I can't mess with it, I masseged in there once and it messed me up. My PT does it too hard and also mssed me up. Everyone thinks my #1 problem is my bulging discs and I agree, but secondary something else that has to do with a rib and my shoulder blade was pulled out of place in Spring and still messed up.

I’ve had surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome because the anterior scalene was crushing my brachial plexus and I think the middle scalene is now an issue :( loved this video
