Brown Thrashers are gorgeous birds with a lot of personality. A member of the mimic family and known for their impressive songs and "thrashing ability" they also can take a fresh mountain stream bath as enthusiastically as any bird. Enjoy this rare long visit to the cool mountain spring.

The mountain spring is getting pretty small in mid August, but its still a cool 55 degrees and in the deep forest shade so it draws birds for a nice fresh bath. If you want to attract birds more species would be drawn to a fresh water feature with safety nearby.

I have a family of brown thrashers in my yard, first time in the 22 years, I have lived here. Two young ones, I love watching them running (very fast) across the yard for a bug.

Awww I love the brown thrasher that's currently visiting my suet cake... he swoops over nearby then rapidly makes about 8 giant comical hops to where it's hanging. Such a gorgeous bird! This was lovely footage! We have a small creek not too far away behind our house so I don't usually bother with setting up a bird bath unless it freezes over, but this makes me want to set up a trail camera near it!
