At-home ketamine therapy - Are you ready?

As the rules and regulations around psychedelics loosen, psychedelic therapy is moving from scientific research to a clinical industry, with the potential to impact actual patients, even from the comfort of their own home.

That’s where mental health startups like Mindbloom come into play. Mindbloom seeks to make ketamine therapy more accessible by providing physician prescribed drugs, kits including masks and journals, and guides, making the treatment available in the home, rather than at clinics.

It’s another step toward expanded clinical use for a drug that is as crucial on battlefields as it is in vet offices, and that has recently found its way from clubs to psychiatrist offices.

Do you think at-home ketamine therapy is exciting or too risky?

Psilocybin saved my life. I was addicted to heroin for 15 years and after Psilocybin treatment I will be 3 years clean in September. I have zero cravings. This is something that truly needs to be more broadly used in addiction treatment.

Ketamine, lsd, dmt and psilocybin containing mushroom are amazing. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

I’ve been doing ketamine therapy for 11 months now. It’s completely changed my life for the better. My dad committed suicide when I was 5, and I spent 38 years in a depressive anxiety loop. Ketamine has completely put my depression into remission. We lost our 6 year old grandson 2 months ago, and it’s a Godsend I began treatment when I did. There is no way I could have been here to support my family through this trying time without it. I highly recommend anyone struggling to research it. My insurance covered 25 IV sessions, and now I do at home therapy. It’s the greatest gift I’ve ever been given.

I was on SSRIs for the better part of 10 years, and ketamine therapy changed my life. I joined up on mindbloom and it's been incredible. I agree with the woman in the video, I wouldn't change a thing. I'm finally getting back to a normalcy I never knew was possible.

I have used SSRI's for many years. They were helpful, but limited for keeping my depression and anxiety suppressed. Ketamine has been life changing for me. My first treatment with Ketamine was different from any experience I have had before and I cannot describe it. It was certainly not frightening or uncomfortable. The effects of the treatment were remarkable, at least for me. I completely stopped drinking alcohol after decades of abuse which is monumental for me. I have completely lost the taste for alcohol and do not think about it any longer. Another big change for me is the absence of any feeling depression and anxiety. For me, the Ketamine treatment has been very effective for me. I wish I had known about this treatment years ago.

I feel like we're collectively going through hardship, but that we're going to become much stronger. The loss of comfort is going to push radical changes in society forward, like psychedelic medication. Future generations will not suffer from the same range of mental illness that we do, and they will enjoy healthy brain enhancing tools. Positivity is power!

You are loved and cherished. You have nothing to fear. There is nothing you can do wrong. If I had to boil this entire message down to one sentence, it would run this way: You are loved. And if I had to boil it down further, to just one word, it would (of course) be, simply: Love.

Most of the comments on these videos are bots. Its hard to even tell what is a legit comment because they all sound so cliche . They are either some "flying colors" success story or telling you about some totally legit and not shady online shop.

I noticed in a video they talk about the current antidepressant drugs anti-anxiety medication and so on. I have a story to tell.
first and foremost it's not the drugs that are the problem. The drugs work I'm living proof It's how the drugs are used in modern society. When I was going through my tough time my psychiatrist used the drugs as a stopgap. I was in a very bad place depression anxiety I was even contemplating suicide. My psychiatrist put me on the medication I'm not going to say which one and I started to feel better but there were terrible side effects. But what was most important was my psychiatrist told me that these drugs are only temporary to get me out of danger. He monitored me closely but during our sessions he actually was trained in psychology as well as psychiatry. We talked about my problems metered my medication and what the medication did was allow me to actually talk about my problems and to think coherently about them. once I started to get a grip on my problems he started to wean me off of the drugs very slowly. I will admit there were a couple of times that he needed to increase my dosage however every time he did I was able to get a better grip on my problems until after much hard work I was finally able to face my problems without the use of the drugs. The major problem with most psychiatrists these days is they prescribe the medication and then they tell you to stay on the medication and don't work with you to actually solve the problem.

however doing it at home alone like this is really scary This type of treatment needs to be done in the presence of a professional. because I promise you if it starts to help somebody alone they're going to want to do it twice as much or three times as much until eventually they're going to go too far.

Beautiful.
I am feeling the exact same! I’m 65 and lost a daughter after a 30 year battle with cystic fibrosis. Totally burned out…long term stress. SSRI’s only made a small dent. Looking to get my old mojo back.

On a certain level, we have a drug store in our brain, the neurochemicals that show up in flow: so dopamine, norepinephrine, anandamide, endorphins, and serotonin. If you were to try to cocktail the street drug version of that, right, you're trying to blend like heroin and speed and coke and acid and weed- and point is, you can't do it. It turns out the brain can cocktail all of 'em at once, which is why people will prefer flow to almost any experience on Earth. It's our favorite experience. It's the most addictive experience on Earth. Why? 'Cause it cocktails five or six of the largest pleasure drugs the brain can produce. We're all capable of so much more than we know. That is a commonality across the board. And one of the big reasons is we're all hardwired for flow, and flow is a massive amplification of what's possible for ourselves.

This series is great, but I feel it is too one-sided... I miss the view of specialists on the other side of the story, it makes it all sound like guru talk or and ad..

This video needs more care in handling the topic.
It sounded like an implicit endorsement for ketamine addiction.
Could have spent more seconds acknowledging overdose risks etc
Just saying

6:38 you aren’t shepherding the movement, people have been using alternative drugs for mental health before you were born and will after you die.
