Supper Soccer was a game for soccer fans. It was the very first time I could emulate on video game some of the real-life moves in a soccer game, such as a deep pass in empty space or a curve-ball cross. The soundtrack was a HUGE plus - the same way the music in Zelda, Mario and Street Fighter made those games better than they would have been.

I remember this playing as a kid, actually i still god the console and it works better than my PS2, I can say I had much more fun playing this game then FIFA or PES

I still have this game. I used to play it with my brother. I think we played the "Shootout" mode the most just because it didn't take so long. I'm surprised you didn't mention it.

I played this so much! How it looks here and how I remember the game are two different things!

Not a lot of strategy? If you play against people who are good goaltenders, definitely takes some inventive ways to score. Team Japan has 2 full stat characters (Yoshi 10, Jiro 7)  which makes them one of the best teams in the game with their substitute players being better than their actual players. I dare you to try and beat Team Nintendo without ripping your hair out, and shutting off the game. Takes practice but this game can be mastered.

Yeah 16 bit music owned in sports games. I like bands and artists but there was no need to just fill up sports games with only licensed music now days. Bring this kind off stuff back!

Put it on Manual keepers, learn to use manual pass, play against a friend.. and its still a great game. You just dont know how to play... and your score every time wont work at higher levels. Some of the goals you can score on this game are sick...

This is kinda like a Tecmo football game because you spend your time running in zig zags trying to avoid slide tackles. Oh, and you did well to suffer such a crushing defeat as Argentina considering you have the superstar Diego on your team with 14's across the board.

If you want fatalities in a soccer game play Kunio Kun Nekketsu Soccer League 3 by Tecnos or one of the bastardized versions - Nintendo World Cup.

Did you know they also made a Super ice Hockey? Pretty neat game, uses the mode 7 as well.
