I got to Rebreather Forum 4 early enough to squeeze some diving in! You guys want more underwater footage on this channel?! You got it!

Products used to make this video:

Malta is the wreck diving capital of the Mediterranean. As I was heading there anyway for the RF4 conference, there was no way I wasn't going to pack my rebreather for some excellent deep technical CCR dives. Malta has so many different wreck dives to offer. Among the best wreck dives in Malta are the S.S. Polynesien and the HMS Nasturtium - both World War 1 era wrecks in about 65m/215ft of seawater.

If you like technical diving or diving with rebreathers, you have to add Malta to your scuba diving bucket list! The weather, facilities, people and dive sites all add up to excellent dive experiences.

In Malta, I dive with Alan and his team at Techwise... highly receommended! Check them out here and let them know James from Divers Ready! sent you...

Thanks as always for watching!

:D welcome to Malta :) I'm a baby diver, even more of a baby techie, and looking into making the switch to CCR purely based on the enormity of sites available that I'd like to be on trimix for. I've been referencing your channel for information for a long time and I'm so glad you enjoyed Malta.

Some great footage there... We almost crossed paths as me and my buddy were there for 2 weeks early May. We also dived the Hephaeseus (nickname hepatitis for ease) for the first time this year - last time i was in Malta in 2018 it had just been beached.
Next trip we will try and do the farther out wrecks👍

Malta used to be up there near the top of my list of places to dive in Europe. However, their government's recent persecution of divers has changed that. They are the first place to attempt to convict a dive buddy for the death of another diver that happened in 2020, claiming "involuntary manslaughter". They wanted to imprison Castillo for two years for a fake crime he never committed, and had absolutely zero control over, after falsely convicting him in a Maltese court in 2022. It took a year and world-wide screaming at the Maltese government before a different court judge would overturn the ludicrous ruling this year in February. And this isn't even the first time Malta has done this garbage. Back in 2015, a Maltese court did the same thing to Steven Martin, maliciously putting him through the legal ringer for 18 straight months. Despite the fact that the ruling against Castillo has now recently been stricken down, Malta has branded itself as a hostile nation toward diving as an industry, and caused many divers to stay away. Some say the ONLY reason RF4 is even being held there is an attempt to improve the nations publicity and image as a diving destination once again. Sad as it is, because of all the amazing diving possible there, but you can't fool me. Malta has an established trend now of being a hostile nation toward divers.

Great description of Allan and his crew. They're propper legends. Le Polynesien is a nice wreck. A bit sketchy to penetrate but there's lots to see.

Hello James! I got my certification on my birthday, I've been taking workshops and courses. And my boyfriend and I are headed to Honduras in June for our Advanced open water certification. Love your videos, they've been a great addition of knowledge for our scuba career/adventure.

Look, I live in france, I have dived the pmditeranian, it is fished out they have eaten all the fish. look at your video. However there is a hidden jewel in the mediteranien. Ustica. From my mpemiory the first of the natural reserves in the mediteranien. Now get this, the fisherpmen of the island asked asked trhat they establish a no fishing zone around the island. To stop the fleets from P°alermo fishing it out. I dived it(, this is the Mediteranien that Cousteu saw. There are Fish. Now I travel the world, diving, anhd I went bacdk to Ustica, That means it is SO GOOD. See the Meditaranien a Couysteu saw it. If you are interested you know how to find me. It is not tech, I think I did 38 metres on one dive. You know how to find me'

There's so many wrecks on Malta (well, Gozo) that are just about reachable for experienced rec divers on air and single tank. Sure, you won't enjoy it as much as you would with proper tech gear (you spend 20 minutes in the wreck and then another 10 hanging on to a buoy rope/chain serving deco on air - not ideal), but we coupled it with living on a catamaran, so it was great vacation. And honestly, not sure why you are so derogatory of the Hephaestus dive. It's fairly fresh wreck and swimming through the oil tanks is really cool.

Malta is awsome :) They have a structures older than pyramids there. It is a place not only for one visit - so many places and wrecks to explore for each diving level.

I am going to Malta 🇲🇹 in September. Any recommendations for someone that has only been diving for 4 years but is not a technical diver (not yet at least). I have my advanced open water and 45 dives under my belt. Any recommended areas?
