Samphire has made an appearance on the fish counter of the more swanky supermarkets in the UK in recent years. It's overpriced and is imported from France, Israel and even Saudi Arabia ! If you know where to look, you can find it for free and a lot closer to home. Cut out the carbon footprint of your food by learning how to identify and find this tasty veg which grows in abundance along our UK coastline.

Often called Crowsfeet here in the Maritimes. Haven't tried it before, I'm a fiddlehead fan, but I'll be on the lookout for it.

What a peaceful video. Cooked up some Samphire for tea tonight but alas, was also from Israel! I live on Guernsey in the Channel Islands so I need to go foraging too

@andy Ballard it is really fun to pick in the wild but also growing them if I could., The wild is a 24 hours drive away from here! This plant is not common to grow at all so it's difficult to get seeds. Enjoy them because you can!

Your film is just stunning! I love samphire, it is absolutely a delicious treat. I tried to grow them from seeds a few times, but they did not even sprout! Do you have any experience with growing these? I assume you don't even have to consider that since you can easily harvest these in the wild. Thank you for sharing!!

Thanks for your great video. As I know Samphire is also known as Salicornia, right? Could u please share how to cultivate this salicornia, are there any conditions or rules that we need to follow? Or there is anything that needs to notice when growing salicornia. May I know why you only harvest the small scattered salicornia, how about the big cluster around there?

What does it taste like? I am in Colorado. Middle of the states. Not likely to get to try it.

Where exactly can I find the samphire shown in this video - seems to be in abundance! Would love to take a trip to check it out but would be good to know what to enter in the sat nav...

Bean looking for Samphire foraging in the south of England. Central South Coast actually. where if any places do you know? It's too expensive to buy all the time when you can pick it!!!!

I prefer to fry it in butter with a twist of pepper.
