I came from a nature channel that explained an interesting phenomenon

Apparently male sperm whales are kicked out of their pod in their teenage years, left to fend for themselves. But sometimes they come across another young male and form pods. Through the years they form a very strong bond. And if one is in trouble/dies, they’ll all die with him, together

They got in to difficulty in shallow waters because the North Sea is not big enough.

Usually males are kicked out as teens. Other teen male sperm whales would find each other and stay with each other for protection and to be a family. Seems like one got washed up in beach looking for food and the others just followed along too not wanting to be alone or left out.

It died from fighting the colossal squid. You could see scratches on the sperm whale's body
