Album Version.

True ‘bubble gum’ pop song that was an international hit in 1968.

Performed by Joey Levine and a group of U.S. based studio musicians (collectively known and marketed as ‘Ohio Express’), the well crafted recording received high rotation airplay on local pop radio over the Australian summer of 1968/1969.

The single sold sufficient copies to receive a top ranking of #5 in the Go-Set pop newspaper’s national top 40 (at the time, the only music chart compiled on an Australia wide basis), remaining on that listing for a healthy 15 weeks.

A retrospective tabulation of record retail sales, conducted by the ‘Kent Music Report’, revealed that it actually peaked at the #6 national position.

This is the original album track (with a slightly longer (3.19) running time than the (2.39) vinyl single) and is notable for a spoken ‘intro’ and some prolonged ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ banter following the song’s fadeout ending.

Australia release: Late 1968

I love 💕 Bubblegum music. It brings me back to my childhood life. AM 📻 radio made it a tradition..
