Bookshelf Build // Woodworking

I'll show you how to build this, sturdy bookshelf using easy woodworking joinery techniques, box store lumber and a limited hand tool heavy toolkit. This easy handtool woodworking project teaches essential woodworking joinery every woodworker needs to know. Learn Mortise and Tenon Joints, Wedged joinery, cutting dadoes, and basic cabinet construction, all by hand. My favorite joint right now is the keyed or "tusk" tenon, a nod to japanese joinery and timberframe construction and it's making an appearance in a lot of my furniture as of late. Since publishing this video, I've had the incredible honor of teaching this as a class at the Port Townsend School of Woodworking and had a total blast!

I didn’t know Anne used to make project build videos. This is so great I’d love to see her get back to this type of content.

Another nice vid. Really like the way you tie the project together. Love to hear your commentary while you are working and talking at the same time. Makes me wonder what that commentary sounds like. Keep up the good work.

Beautiful work, Anne. I have two little girls, and as my oldest has grown (she’s 4), she’s started to get curious about daddy’s woodshop. It was glorious to have her sit on my lap and “help” me pare with a chisel for the first time. I’m glad to see talented women putting up videos more frequently; I don’t want her to get the idea that furniture making is just for boys! Thank you!

Quick question: what species did you use for your wall-mounted tool cabinet?

Love to see the washing machine in the background, you don't need to have a big shop to make pretty things... good job, like your video's
