Production of 155 mm artillery shells for Ukraine.

The Pentagon awarded contracts to three private companies to produce and deliver 155mm artillery: General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, American Ordnance, and IMT Defense.

Seems like the most time consuming part of production is the body of the shell forging. Only 40 shells are being forged at the same time. I guess there are at least several of these forging machines working at the same time.

The copper looking rings around the base of the shell are used to seal the shell in the Breach block of the howitzer. The shell is ramed in the barrel sealing the shell, a powder charged is placed in the breach block, the breach closed ready to fire . A small charge is used to set off the powder .

Lets hope they find out, to make the copperband break away, after leaving the barrel, to reduce the drag, and under it make dimples to reduce the drag, according to the twist of the barrel, can maybe be a gamechanger ? And make it a longer range Nammo !
