The Meaning of Philippians 4:13

Philippians 4:13 is one of the most well-known New Testament verses, but it's also notoriously misused. After telling his audience that he's experienced both poverty and affluence, the Apostle Paul writes these well-known words: "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."

Many of us have seen some variation of these words in encouraging greeting cards, in art, on t-shirts, tattooed on people's skin, and even scrawled on the shoes of famous athletes or printed on their eye black.

The verse is often shortened to, "I can do all things..."

But is that what Paul is really saying here? Is he telling us to believe in ourselves? Or to believe that Christ empowers us to do whatever we set our minds to? Well, not really.

In this video, Dr. Lynn H. Cohick explains this often-misunderstood verse.

This scripture has always meant a lot to me when I was a little girl because whenever I felt disappointed or discouraged, it’s because of my loving grandmother that I never lost hope or faith each time she said it to me.

In his ministry serving Jesus, Paul has had plenty, and he's had very little to nothing sometimes. Jesus gives him the strength to live, to move, to be and to minister through it all. If you notice, no matter what situation Paul is found in, he is looking for a chance to minister. Finding a monument to "The Unknown God", and making Him known to the people one day, and being held captive and preaching to the Roman soldier watching him on another day. That strength comes from Christ.

I bind to hell any thinking I can not manage succesfully finishing the tasks for my studies or thinking I am not competent enough in general, while binding to hell every unequal yoke and common share with those believing oneself not to be competent and one not striving to be strengthened in the ministry and calling of God for one's life, binding myself, but also my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances, opponents and the body of Christ to do all things through Christ who strengthenings one in one's ministry and calling of God and binding to hell all lack of strength, in accordance with this word and philippians 4:13, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!

God is within. 'He' is within....the best version of 'you'. Seek and ye shall find.

I do not understand the reason the word "which" was replaced with the word "who" in the King James Version of Philippians 4:13. All Paul is saying is that he gets strength from doing things through (because)/ of Christ. This is an individual doing on Paul's part. Paul could easily say I get strength because I do do thing because of Christ. Leave the word "which" in and ask for Divine Wisdom (James 1:5) to get the true picture

I never seriously considered that "all things" included flying like Superman. However, and it's only a "however, " if it were God's determination that Paul was going to fly like Superman, who might we be to say that is an absurdity? BTW, without more, I would venture to say this scenario is an absurdity--but, I am just making a point.
