Once upon a time, getting into college was quite the accomplishment. These days, finding housing near campus may be even tougher.

if you’re a senior, you gotta live off-campus anyway. unfortunately, the surrounding neighborhoods near UCSD (la jolla, university city, clairemont, and pacific beach) aren’t cheap.

Another casualty of the housing crisis; San Diego needs to start building way more housing (preferably social housing) alongside more transit lines, to move away from the failed suburban experiment. Otherwise, market forces will keep pushing rents and housing prices up and up, pushing shelter out of the reach for many people, including the middle class, as more people compete for diminishing supply.

Upper classmen should be off campus anyways 🤷🏻‍♀️ When I was in college, only freshmen were in dorms. Unfortunately, La Jolla costs an arm and a leg. Students are going to have to move down towards State
