A truck driver was sentenced to over 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of negligent homicide. Danny Glen Tiner was driving on an Arizona interstate when he crashed into stopped traffic in January 2023. Five people were killed in the crash. Tiner told investigators he was checking a message on his “work tablet” when he failed to stop his semi-truck. Authorities discovered Tiner was actually watching videos on TikTok at the time of the crash. Law&Crime’s Sierra Gillespie breaks down bodycam footage from the deadly crash.

If you're careless with your life, that's unfortunate, if you're careless with other people's lives, that's unforgivable.

He still has his phone in his hand throughout all of the aftermath. Phone addiction is a real problem in the world right now.

My uncle drove trucks for over 40 years. He had one accident his entire career. It wasn’t fatal but a 7 month old baby suffered a broken arm and the mother had a few broken ribs and leg. That was in the 90s and still to this day my uncle will have nightmares abt it a few times a year. This man did not care and still probably doesn’t.

4.5 years per victim is a insult to the family and the deceased.

Killed 5 people and has the nerve to say “it scared me a little bit too” “my knee hurts”. Really? That’s what you’re thinking about.

This guy acts like the semi is supposed to stop right away. 5 souls lost because of distracted driving. I hope they didn't suffer.

It's unbelievable to me that he's so incredibly nonchalant about having wiped out FIVE people!

As a professional driver for FedEx, I was taught to observe up to a half mile in front of my vehicle's current position to adjust my driving accordingly! It has worked for for almost 30 years!

He seems pretty calm for a guy responsible for killing 5 people. He wasn’t the least bit concerned when being interviewed.

He has zero accountability and lacks awareness of the reality that he just took 5 lives because he was watching TikTok.

Im a truck driver i see this waiting to happen all day long trucks tailgating NO proper space, speeding, speeding through construction zone all the while tailgating and phone in hand looking down at the phone im surprise it doesnt happen more often, if a truck doesnt have proper space and traffic STOPS they will kill anyone in a 4wheeler in front of them IF YOU DONT WANT TO KILL SOMEONE AND GO TO PRISON START BEING A PROFESSIONAL DRIVER AND FOLLOW THE RULES FOR SAFETY

I work at a High School & had one 11th grade girl blatantly tell me she watches tik tok & texts while she drives but she’s “Very careful” - so it’s ok 😒. She gave me crap for acting like she killed someone but I mean it’s a matter of time little girl

Distracted driving is just as bad as drunk driving. As the driver of a 4500 pound car, you have a HUGE responsibility to yourself and everyone around you. As the driver of a 50, 000 pound monster of a truck, your responsibility is infinitely bigger. This dude definitely needs to be charged.

My boss Ryan was killed in this accident. Still can’t believe it man. He was the coolest/easiest guy to be around. RIP to everyone that lost their life that morning.
