Attorney Shauqat Ali of Madras confirms that since the 1954 Act the radical Deobandis who have been always close to the Congress party, have taken over the Waqf board through out the country, Recently in BJP ruled states, the Waqf boards have become free of these radicals. Surprising Gen Ayub Khan of Pakistan passed a similar law modeled after the Congress government law, so that in that country also the radicals have taken over the Waqf board. The proposed law will break the radicals' stranglehold on Waqf.
