Carter Vintage is happy to be a dealer for Pre-War Guitar company. This Pre-War model is the 3rd level of distress they offer and it feels very broken in and at home when you're playing it. And the sound is classic dreadnought! Molly Tuttle perfectly demonstrates this guitar.

Thank you Molly. That is a perfect arrangement of your art, the guitar and the composition. The journey awaits all that listen and hear. Very interesting timings and use of vibrato with your left arm. The tapping (really kicks in at 0:57) with your left leg and foot is very intriguing. It makes the music a continuous flow and not a fixed measure score.

The guitar sounds excessively dry to me. I have a '36 D-18 and the sound is fuller. Yes, I recognize that there's an enormous price difference. Molly's playing is outstanding as usual.

I'm just learning about "pre war guitar" company and regarding this demo I have to ask: The recording setup here looks the same as on this video, shot on the same day I assume.


Why does the pre war guitar sound so distant? The Shure SM 81 mic seems to be in the same position, are we listening to the camera mic or a blend? The 1938 D-18 in the other video sound way more direct and the way I'd expect a pre war Martin to sound. This recording sounds too distant to evaluate the instrument. Could there be such a difference in the way these two guitars project forward? Based on the assumption that both recordings were made and mixed the same way I have to wonder what the PW guitar Co fuss is all about.
BTW, Molly's playing is great of course.
