You spent only 12 hours in Zagreb and you saw basically nothing .You ate food which is not typical for Zagreb . When visiting for few hours don't be afraid spend few hours on a city guide or prepare yourself specially if you are filming and posting that on Youtube . Btw Zagreb is probably only EU capital without homeless people on the street . This video is terrible wrong.

Oh sweetie, you did not go see any of the many beautiful places and things to see in do in Zagreb. I am so sorry you missed out. Zagreb is an amazing town, with so much to see and do. I was there for two months and did not see half of what I should. Next time, look up and plan your adventures. Europe is not supposed to jump out and grab you like Vegas.

You literally missed the whole Upper town (heart of Zagreb) you also missed the most of the Lower town (for example so-called Lenuci's Horseshoe). Also there were two large earthquakes in Zagreb 2 -3 years ago thats why city is currently in "rebuild mode" ...

Last year I moved to Zagreb from the US. My father's family is from the Balkans, and wanted to spend a year in the region. Within a week, I had already met some new friends, and found a great cheap apt. in the city center.

Honestly, Zagreb is a VERY safe, beautiful city, but it takes time to explore! Almost everyone speaks English, and are very friendly.

I think I've seen two or three homeless people within the past year. You may have wrongfully assumed the people who collect bottles/ cans from the garbages around the city are homeless, but the majority are not. Most of the grocery stores have special machines that pay cash for cans/ bottles, and a lot of people in Zagreb collect them to make extra cash.

On April 6th, instead of flying home to America, I'm getting married to my soon to be Croatian wife!😊

I'm in Z. right now for a few nights, and it's actually a very interesting place with fantastic architecture and a very modern vibe. With diverse museums and arts spaces, it's a great place to get an understanding of this region's complex history, starting with Greeks, Romans and Byzantines, on through to WWI, WWII, the Balkan wars, and an earthquake in 2020. Z has expansive squares, stunning architecture in an amazing range of colours, tiny alleys that wind their way up to the oldest part of the city, shade for the hot days and sunny spots for the cool weather. Wander through the lovely botanical garden. There is a film festival starting tonight. Sorry Natalie, but do your research before you travel. It looks like you did a good job packing your toiletries, but you shouldn't be trying to give advice about actual travel.

From local delicacies to stunning views, Zagreb has it covered. Despite occasional service hiccups, the city's charm is undeniable. Not knowing why you “trashed Zagreb”. I, a Canadian, have also walked the streets of Zagreb and “yes” have seen the graffiti and closed buildings but I’ve also seen the beautiful parks, especially Zrinjevac in centre square, the multiple colourful market places, the streets lined with cafes, the upper city, with funicular and free nightly entertainment and heritage buildings stretching back to Middle Ages, the Zagreb Cathedral, with neo-gothic spires and highest building in Croatia, the underground train station shopping mall, the National Theatre, 1895, created by Viennese design team and a replica of the famous Vienna Theatre, the Mirigoj City Cemetery, noteworthy landmark and memorial burial sight of renowned figure heads, and Tkalcieva Street, the heart of night life in Zagreb, with numerous pubs and restaurants, and people from all over the world. Maybe you would have enjoyed cevapi, meat or cheese burek, broiled “spit”lamb or pig, stuffed peppers, cabbage rolls, or under cover which are all Croatian specialties, not pasta. I could go on and on …. Unfortunately, you missed all this and chose to focus on the graffiti and boarded up buildings. Next time, I suggest you educate yourself before you go or simply go with an open mind, and learn to appreciate the positives of which a city has to offer, as the City of Zagreb has many.

Where have you been walking around? Even I don’t go there and I am Zagreb born and bred. As a tourist you need to use Google or tour guide. You totally miss the point of Zagreb. Very sad 😢

It seems like you intentionally avoided nice, touristy and historic areas. Zagreb has a long and interesting history and plenty of secret gems that you could have researched. Maybe before your next trip google the place you are going to, or hire a local guide to point you to right direction. I think you have a lot more healing to do, or whatever this trip was... good riddance.❤

Honestly such a negative, unrepresentative transect of Zagreb. You barely scratch the surface of the city. To be this bleak and narrow in perspective is kind of just ignorant.

I spent 4 days in Zagreb, just sightseeing. It is a great city, lovely people, fantastic healthy food, especially restaurant called Pod mirnim krovom, splendid market in the city center, great mountain paths, magnificent old buildings! Love it!
Love you, Croatian people, your smiles made my days great there:)
Best greetings from Warsaw!

There is the Tourism Centre right there in the Main Square in Zagreb. That might have helped you. As with many European cities, you kind of have to plan ahead before arriving.

I’m sure Zagreb is not New York City, but I personally didn’t like New York City, too expensive. I met a young woman here in Canada who said one of her favourite cities was Zagreb, Croatia. She said she’s been there a few times for a visit. She said the city was small but had everything; and nice parks also.

I’m native Croatian who lives in UK. I absolutely love Zagreb and my British husband adores this city as well. From beautiful restaurants, bakeries, to theaters, museums, green surfaces and lakes. It’s absolutely stunning and my husband would really like for us to move there.
However, I can understand the disappointment of this girl. Zagreb is the only European city where graffiti’s are something normal and nobody’s bothered with them, not even if they are on old, historic buildings. It’s absurd that that’s still seen as ok. Another thing, garbage everywhere as well as smoking being tolerated everywhere. Anywhere else in the world, those 3 things: garbage, graffiti and smoking screams bad and dangerous area. In Zagreb, that’s not the case. You would see that in any area. That’s probably something that every tourist should be aware of, as well as Zagreb management. It’s an amazing city with so much to offer. In my opinion, better fun then Adriatic coast, but should be better maintained, otherwise it’s sending wrong picture…
