Thanks for posting this! I will be starting at Cambridge this October and I was starting to get scared about how it will affect my mental health after seeing the documentary. It's really reassuring to hear that you got the support you needed. I hope you're doing better!🥰

Academics, for the most part, are those who went through the academic system as overachievers, hard working people mainly focusing on their academic success (there are other examples but I am talking about the average academic), so it is no surprise to me that they would view anything other than focusing on academics as wasting your time. In fact I had a similar experience at my university where during the welcome session the course coordinator told us about the opportunity to take minors with the main course (economics). I was debating whether to take on Law or Political Science or no minor at all and the coordinator basically told us that any other minor than mathematics would not be conducive for our degree, which to be honest is utter nonsense, but I think it discouraged a lot of us (including me) to spread out and explore.

Even if the university cannot spend all the money on mental health services, I think it is a very valid point that the university has a large endowment, larger than most other universities' endowments, so it doesn't sit well that Cambridge ranks so low on mental health and uses a lack of resources as a defence. In regards to the supervisor who would not advise students to intermit because he will earn less money, I think the system is flawed because supervisors seem to be paid per student; this creates a conflict of interest that shouldn't be there in the first place. As far as I am concerned, it is not the norm that teaching staff are paid per student. I think there's good reason to try to get this policy changed, and perhaps for the university to make more efforts in terms of harmonising its policies and making sure they are followed by all colleges. I assume the supervisors are also paid based on how well the students do in exams...? Otherwise I don't see why they would deter students from doing extracurriculars.

I can’t take any of these comments seriously haha. To me it’s obvious that, even though you are very intelligent, things don’t come your way easily. You are very disciplined and hard working and you earned every single one of your successes in life. Work hard and you’ll be rewarded. That’s how it’s always been. I think most of these haters are just feeling bad about themselves because they know that they could achieve similar things if they were just as hard working. Honestly, makes me feel bad about myself too haha! I adore you’re discipline and your lifestyle! Although it wouldn’t be for me I do respect you a lot and I am sure that life will keep paying you back! You‘ll on the very top someday!

It did feel extremely manipulative with its editing and usage of statistics.
Way too biased. Would've preferred if it stayed a little more objective and done more research and thorough, proper analysis of their collected data.
