The cropping that adds the black bars... isn't that an intentional option by OBS? So that your output will include the black bars (letterboxes or pillerboxes etc).

how do I make it record only what I cropped? I hit 'start recording', then it records a video the size of what I selected in the OBS options (my screen size), with a black portion for what I cropped off
