We hiked from Chantry Flat to Mt. Wilson on 4/23/16. We arrived at the parking lot at 6:00 AM and it was already almost full. The trail starts at the Chantry Flat trailhead. the hike is a giant loop. We started hiking around 6:15 AM, took a short break at Spruce Grove around 7:49 AM, and reached an observation point at the summit around 9:56 AM. We took many pictures from the view point and ate lunch outside the cafe. We left the top at around 11:50 AM and reached our car around 2:25 PM. The hike is ~14 miles in total. ~7 up, ~7 down. I would rate the hike as strenuous due to the elevation gain (4,200 ft.) to the top and the overall length. We had nice weather in the mid 70's and were hiking in the shade for a majority of the trail.

When you got back down to Hogees, you should have taken the "Upper Winter Creek" trail to Chantry flats. You would have arrived in the back of the Chantry Flats picnic area and avoided having to hike back up "Cardiac Hill". Regardless, heck of an accomplishment doing this hike.
