I spent 9 months living in Amsterdam a few years ago. The “inner ring” you mentioned is all the tourist trap areas. Outside of that is more of a “vibe”. Highly recommend venturing off to those areas next time you’re out and about in Amsterdam.

The first time I visited Amsterdam I was also strolling around with my mother and we accidentally stumbled upon the red light district 😅. It was a lot cleaner than either of us expected.

Great video Taylor! Amsterdam is always a great place to stop off at on a trip to Europe, depending on your situation I tell everyone its “Europe lite” because nearly everyone speaks great English, there are several cheap and easy forms of transportation on top of walking or biking (which are the best imo) and there’s several different types of food from all over the world to satisfy anyone’s taste buds. Not to mention you are a quick train ride away from like 5 countries so I reccomend this as a great layover stop like you did or a great place to start an extended Euro trip especially for first timers.

These buildings lean slightly to help move furniture which in the old days was manouevered through the windows with a rope / hoist. A lean forward helps the furniture not bang against the lower wall/windows.
