Found a newer edition of this board game in storage last night and played it. For a simple looking game, the rules felt like they had some gaps in explaining things and we experienced some weird gameplay cases which is why I came here to see if we were playing it correctly.
1) The player going second seems to be at a huge disadvantage because they need to have a piece with two of the same number as the one that is already out. I lost 105 points on my first turn because I had to keep drawing until I could play which meant I had a ton of negative points to start off with. Pretty wild that you just keep drawing? On top of that, if player 1 finishes their hand first, they also get all the points in Player 2's hand which that player already lost a ton of points for. What a double whammy.
2) The rules in our box only seem to explain how to play the first and second turn of the game and simply say to repeat that for later turns. However, it only ever mentions that you have to match 2 sides of your triomino, not all three. We couldn't tell if there was simply a bonus for matching all three (a hex or bridge) or if you literally couldn't play numbers that didn't match as long as two did; weird that it never says that. The most noticeable example is in a case where you are forming a bridge but the tip of your triangle doesn't match the tip of the other (but your two sides match the sides you're touching)
3) Player 1 reached 400 points before player 2, which doesn't cause the game to end, it just reaches a kind of final turns state where you play until someone is out or both players pass. The issue that happened here is that Player 1 had pieces left, but no where to play them and had to keep passing, losing 10 points each time, until player 2 passed 400 points and passed. Player 1 was then under 400 points and lost. Also, even in the case of both players passing, it feels really weird that it causes both players to lose the 10 points (instead of the first player to pass and not the second that ends the game).

TL;DR Rules are pretty weird but the game was ok.

I presume we write down or memorize our score throughout the game? So each move that gives us points, we add (or deduct) those points to the points from the previous move? Thanks!

If you draw and cant play, do you draw again or is it end of turn?

Last night was the first  time I played with a triangular set of dominoes. While I know there are 56 dominoes in a triple five set, the question I would like to ask is how times does each appear on one of the three corners

Can you play a triomino in a bridge position without actually making a bridge? For example, can you match two sides of a triomino without matching the number at the point? The rules that came with my set don't specify whether or not that is allowed...
