HDMI to VGA cables don't normally work. HDMI is a digital signal and VGA is a analog signal. You need a converter to get it to work right.

I agree with the other comments, not having at least DVI is like having a arms without hands. To me it would be useless.

cool monitor, I would prefer a HDMI n DVI along with the VGA port. I would like to see a review of this monitor.

I recently bought a Samsung LED LCD monitor from the local office depot for $150 on sale. My samsung monitor is full 1080p. And my monitor has a DVI and VGA but no HDMI. I am bummed my monitor does not have HDMI but I use my the adaptor from HDMI to DVI that came with my mac mini. What resolution is your new monitor (AOC e2051SN) ?

my samsung monitor is 23" in. My samsung is a decent monitor for the price but nothing close to my housemate's 2012, 27" in. iMac screen.
