=== PART B === (this video)
=COLOR=
• 0:52 Sean mentioned that there is an improvement on how the GH5 reads color and that the GH4 had a color cast to it. Will the GH5 seamlessly match the GH4 when both cameras are set to the same settings?

=FEEDBACK=
• 4:02 I really think that Panasonic should had done similar to Fuji and the X-T2 grip.

=FOCUS=
• 10:21 Can it punch/zoom in while recording for focus checking?
• 11:31 I have assigned a button to the GH4 for quick AF in Manual Focus mode so I then can fine adjust manually. Will this be possible in FHD and VFR mode on the GH5?
• 12:47 Can you toggle video continuous focus on/off more easily (probably via function button?)
• 15:47 Can you zoom in during playback in video mode to check focus?
• 16:18 Can you control speed between focus touch for effectively doing focus pulls
• 17:48 Could you combine Rack focus with time lapse?
• 23:10 "Does Panasonic plan to make switchable setting for ""Linear/Non-linear"" focusing speed with fly-by-wire lenses?

This section includes questions on…
• AUDIO (audio preamp improvement, record audio when you use FHD and VFR, record audio at 48p in UHD or HD, audio meters get bigger on the screen, mic input 24 bits, DMW-XLR1 audio interface extended with a hot shoe extension)
• CODEC & BITRATE (implementation of the HEVC, record 10-bit 422 in 4K60p, Open Gate/Hi-Res Anamorphic be 10-bit 422, why not first hybrid 5K camera, bitrate of 180fps slo-mo, hi-res Anamorphic Mode have 4.2.2 and10-bit support, bitrates with high frame-rates)

For switching to continuous video autofocus I set up the custom settings for that on my GH3. I have five different custom settings and have them typed up on a little piece of paper taped on behind my LCD screen. Works great. They are 1 24P Touch Focus, 2 24P Continuous Focus, 3-1 60P Touch Focus, 3-2 60P Continuous Focus, 3-3 ETC Continuous

The last question is pretty good because Olympus does provide that in some of their lenses like the 12mm f/2 or even the 12-40mm f/2.8 and other PRO lenses but you need like a switch to pull the focus ring and then operate in a linear mode, which is great for video MF.

Since Panasonic is very video-oriented, it would be nice if they had more lenses like that, that could help MF with fly-by-wire so you could mount a follow focus, etc. With non-linear, it's basically impossible to set marks for focus pull, since any difference in speed will result in different focus point.

So I don't know if you can do that with FW because with a fly-by-wire you don't have a hard stop, the switch in the Olympus lenses is exactly for that, so there is a beginning for closest and an ending for infinity. With a FW update it would be like normal fly-by-wire focus to begin, so the focus position of the ring is determined in the moment you start turning it. And then it would be great if you could set in the configurations how many turns you need to go from the closest point to infinity, so you can have as versatile tool as possible, changing it depending on the situation.

does the automatic focus pull work with a Speedbooster?

From what another Panasonic rep said, they couldn't manage to work to make the GH5 charge via USB, maybe if they had more time, they could but unfortunately there were other priorities. I say that because the Fuji X-T2 uses the Grip exactly to diminish overheating. The X-T2 shoots only 10min of 4K without the grip to avoid overheating but it can shoot up to 30min with the grip, so I guess that if they had the time to work on it, they could had provided the same things Fuji did - charge via USB, DC connector, 2x extra batteries and headphone jack.

And to be fair, nobody would complain that the GH5 didn't provide headphone hack properly just because in the grip you have another one, that's a bit of nonsense. USB Type-C was made exactly because it's very versatile regarding power management, differently from previous generation, it was created with that in mind. That's why the answer from the other Panasonic rep makes more sense to me, it wasn't a top list priority given that the GH5 has a great battery life and they didn't have the time to make it happen, that's fine, it's completely understandable.

Man these interviews are great. If I can chime in to the USB-C charging this is hard for me to believe. My Samsung 2.5yr old NX1's charge with USB2 at 2amps. I can literally shoot continuous 4K starting at 50% battery with a $10 power bank plugged in and in 1 hour of shooting 4k unplug it any my battery will charge up to 100%. Both NX1 and GH5 batteries are 1860mah at 7.2v BUT the GH5 lasts close to 3 hours of 4K video with IBIS and my NX1's lasted 1hr 45min. So it seems that even though the NX1 drained more power it had enough juice from 5v 2amps to run the camera and still slowly charge. I was actually able to shoot for 8 hour of footage right when I got it at a wedding even though I only had one battery because of the USB power. USB-C is much more capable now so my guess is they just didn't want to do it. Oh and the heat thing, NX1 never overheated. I'd love to hear any input from you Joseph or from Sean.

A big thank you to both of you for doing this! I wonder if it wil possible to pause a video in playback mode and to pinch in (zoom) to check focus? Since its only one frame it shouldnt take that much proccesing power... On the gh4 you can do that bit only on the first frame. If no can you put it as a feature request?

If not, Sean can you put that on the feature request list?

From an Inkjet Printing Artist... Need to shoot at min.240 dpi (Epson sweet spot) or 300 dpi is best.
The Gh3 Gh4 shoot stills at 180 dpi. It seems that Gh5 is more Snap shot sensitive & Pro Camera
shoot at 300 Dpi Min. Printers dream for Clients & or self.

Great commentaries and very interesting information from you both, can you tell me if I can set an "fn" button function (or C1, C2, , C3)., to be able to use a specific set of parameters in Movie/Video mode on the GH5 (i.e. set up night mode, with specific ISO, F stop, etc.)? Thanks in advance.

Regarding USB-C: I, personally, don't care about charging the Panasonic batteries via USB-C. However, I would like to RUN the camera using an external USB-C connected battery pack or "charger" (i.e. power supply). I'd LOVE to be able to connect a 10, 000mah battery pack to a GH5 for "all-day" event recording (limited to SD card size, since Matt Frazer said the SD card slots are "2TB capable" or, at least, daisy chain replacing them as they fill up). The current ~1800mah batteries are awesome, but I find I can never get enough battery. Also, it is disappointing that the battery pack only holds one additional battery.

Not to mention that I can get a 10, 000mah Anker USB battery pack for ~$25 on Amazon. Think of it as a poor filmmaker's "Anton Bauer" battery. ;-)
