Building Trust: Clinical Trial Diversity

Improving clinical trial diversity is critical to health equity. PhRMA’s chief operating officer Lori Reilly spoke with Quita Highsmith, Genentech’s Chief Diversity Officer, at The Atlantic’s Health Equity Summit on June 22, 2021, about building trust in clinical trials. One way to reduce barriers to health care access and enable everyone to benefit from new medicines is to ensure that clinical trials are diverse and inclusive and include participants representative of the population the medicine intends (or aims) to treat.
