Doesn’t it amaze you how much we seem to take dishwashers, washing machines and other appliances for granted until something goes wrong with them? I guess it’s a good thing we have folks like you to help us out with fixing said appliances when something does go wrong with them. I was able to fix my mom’s washing machine with the help of your videos, so my hat’s off to you.

I just randomly came across this but it was one of the best videos I have seen on "tearing down" an appliance and learning about them. Quality animations!

Wow this answered all my questions, and even more! I now know why my rinse aid never dispensed. Hopefully it's fixed now. Who knew?

After cleaning my dishwasher down to the impeller in the bottom, and listening to your video a few times, I have come to the conclusion that it is a pump motor.  No water is getting to the arms, so washer is no longer a washer :).  Thanks so much for this very very clear video (I have a Kenmore and the Sears repair guy is coming. I think I am one step ahead of the game here).

I happened upon this video just out of curiosity about how dishwashers work. I didn’t know that too much detergent was a bad thing. Thank you :)

Oh, this visual video and schematic circuit diagram are very intuitive. The step-by-step explanation from the inside out makes people understand very thoroughly.

I should be asleep. But here I am, in 2021, at 11PM, learning about dish washers.

Thanks for the comment! Some dishwashers actually do have an added feature that allows for extra rinses. You could also install a water softener to your house water supply. This would improve your dishwasher's performance and would cut back on the amount of soap or detergent needed. There are many benefits to this besides improved dishwasher performance as well.

How the check ball works is actually a little complicated to explain in a YouTube comment. It has to do with the flow of water pushing the ball up and down a ramp, with the outlet port for the lower wash arms at the bottom of the ramp and the outlet port for the upper wash arms at the top. The timing of the water shutting off and starting again determines where the check ball is resting and which outlet port is blocked.

Yes they do! The dishes typically should be rinsed off before they are placed in the dishwasher.
