Here's how to setup the XYZ Pad: Go to Blocks and select XYZ Pad as the template. Click on EDIT and set X, Y and Z to 113. Then go to Ableton, click MIDI Mapping and then Frequency knob on the Auto Filter audio effect and touch the Lightpad (this will map 113 to frequency). Go back to Dashboard and set XY&Z to 114. Then go to Ableton and click the Resonance knob and touch the Lightpad (this will map 114 to resonance). Then go to Dashboard, set XYZ to 115...and go back to Ableton and set the LFO amount. Finally, go back to Dashboard and change X to 113, Y to 114, and Z to 115. Tada! Done! You can use this method to force midi controller numbers to other controls in Ableton.

Thanks for the demonstration! Before I order one, I'm wondering if it is possible to use the lightpad to switch between the block profiles live, or if you can only change them in the dashboard.

These Roli things are just amazing. You could have a dozen of them next to each other and want another dozen.

I forgot to show how to setup the Auto Filter. Here's how: Open Blocks Dashboard and Ableton. Go to Blocks and select XYZ Pad as the template.

Excellent, this also answered the question about live control I had with your other blok demo! 🙂

So can this pad utilize Komplete expansion sounds when linked with a Maschine MK3, keyboard, or other similar NI device?

Very good, exactly what I was looking for. I use mostly iOS and the Noise app. If you have time to make a similar tutorial for non Ableton users woud be great.
Is it worth having two lightpads also with iOS? I find a good integration with Garageband and Auria Pro, both recognizing noise sounds and 5d controls while Cubasis and Beatmaker didn’t recognize the lightpad. But even with Garageband what I find frustrating is not even being able to change octave as you can do with Dashboard for Mac. Anyway keep going on, you are great! And your wife as well, she contributes to the happy feeling of your videos, a big hug from Italy.

Hey Man, love watching your videos keep it up! I have a similar setup except with a Krontrol 49 in place of the Rhodes . I was wondering: How do you get ableton drums to respond to the slide motion at 2 minutes?

Hi Sanjay! Great vid, as usual ;) I have 2 questions, if you could help me to understand :

1. I saw on videos that we can slide on the lightpad, using drums. If you do that on a snare it creates a succesion of sound like a roll drum (for exemple) you see what I mean? I can't find the way to do that! I'm on Logic Pro X. And by the way how do you use drums with the lightpad (drumkit of the library of logic, drummer track or another device?)

2. I'm not sure to really understand the lights and their meaning. I mean, when you choose a major scale in Dashboard, I think the white scares are C and next lights are a D, E, F, G, A, B and C the white one. but when you choose "Minor" what happen excactly whith the lights? Pretty obscur for me :)

If you could help me, I will really appreciate!! :)

Hi Sanjay! Just subscribed. Enjoy your videos 👍🏻 Just wondering when you said you can trigger scenes with block M and later at the end you mentioned you could do those things with other DAWs. I'm wondering if you have any idea if it's possible to trigger scenes in Logic Pro?

Hey. How were you able to use MPE capability of Lightpad in Ableton (like for the overdrive guitar - you did some gliding and sliding)? Did you route several midi channels to equator?

HI, Sanjay C. I own the old lightpad block and I'm very disappointed with it, especially cause I bought it to finger drumming and I found it useless for that purpose. I love the seabord block, on the other hand.  So my question is if you really think they solved the sensibility issue that the first generation had? Can I play drums with a wide dinamic range with it? Does it respond to our strikes as good as the seabord block does? Thanks, Luis

Can you give a little more detail on the mapping process? I'm using Maschine and it's all connected and linked but to control the faders or the XYZ pad just isn't connecting. I chose the fader and the XYZ pad in the software and tried to choose it on the block but nothing.

Can I use it as xy pad? Can I have like 3 in a row... 2 as XY pads and one as drum pad?

I notice you skipped over how to configure the XYZ Pad to the Autofilter effect in Ableton. How does that work?
