False missile alert causes hysteria in Hawaii

A false emergency alert had people running for cover in a panic in Hawaii on Saturday and a KHOU 11 staff member was caught up in the chaos while on vacation.

I was at the airport with my family when this happened.. I was on vacation.. going home.. I was 8- didn’t know what was going on but my mom grabbed me and my little brother to go hide under the tables with other family’s. The cries of people calling their family saying goodbye was horrible

Honestly, this is a good thing to happen, because now the state of Hawaii knows exactly how their population is going to react to a scenario like this. Call it the most accurate fire drill, the next step is to address who got confused, how to address the confusion, and how to better educate people on what to do if this message was ever sent out again.

I know id like that kind of information because i would have no idea what to do if i got an emergency message like that, I don't even believe my community has a fallout refuge or emergency plan. wow... it like its 1983 all over again, thanks Donald
