In 2006 when I got back into motorcycles I went with Harley because that’s what all my old Army buddies were riding. I was living in Baltimore (County), MD at the time and there was a Harley dealer less than 3 miles from my house. My wife and I went into the dealership 3 different times. We walked all around looking at different bikes and pointing out different things on the bikes. Every single bike had a sign on it saying “do not sit on the bike.” We must have spent at least 30 minutes in that dealership each visit and not one single salesperson or employee ever spoke to us or even paid us any attention. We left after the last visit and drove about 25 miles to another dealership that was located in a rural area. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and within an hour we were signing the papers on a new 2006 Dyna Super Glide. Over the next 9 years that I was stationed there I bought a total of 5 bikes from them and became close friends with several people who worked there. If I wasn’t retired and living 750 miles away now in Tennessee I would still be trading with them.

Back in 2003 when I was ready to move up from my old ironhead Sportster I went to our local dealer. I walked in and told the nice lady at the front desk that I'd like to talk to a sales person. She paged for a sales person to help a customer. 15 minutes later I'm still waiting. The girl said she couldn't understand why nobody was responding then she noticed a woman coming in and said, "Oh here's so-and-so, she can help you." So-and-so could have been a customer, not even a name tag to show she worked there. I told her what I wanted and when I wanted to take delivery. I said I had $1, 000 I could put down on the bike and asked if it would be refundable if I changed my mind. She said it wouldn't be refundable and came off like she had better things to do then sell me a motorcycle. I walked out the door. A friend told me about a dealer about 30 miles away, I called them up, talked to a friendly sales man and drove to the dealership. He told me the money would be refundable till I took ownership. A few months later I drove my new 2003 Heritage out of the shop. That's the only place I shop and I bought my 2020 Road King there as well.

Another good video. I agree with some of your comments but not all, was at my Dealership today on my StreetGlide as the 06 King Custom was napping. They know I don't need or want a fourth bike but they always say to me to take a bike out if I want. Good and bad dealerships are spot on. Wish they were all good. Really enjoy your videos keep them coming.

I have 2 local dealerships relatively close. I bought my bike from one because they had my choice in stock. Both places were about of equal in salespeople BUT when it came time for upgrades I took it to the other dealer. As far as the upgrades, much easier to talk to about the work i had done

You make a good point about making friends with the service people. One of the service guys actually talked me out of purchasing an upgrade for my bike because he honestly didn't think it would make a big enough difference. Saved me a big chunk of $$.

Great video. I need to give a deserved shoutout to my local dealership Tilleys HD of Statesville NC. Local, friendly Mom & Pop place. Just bought a new Heritage there. Service? Great! Prices? Well, it’s a Harley…

I “saved money” by buying an inexpensive tuner that offered “custom tunes” and my 114 was running 305 degrees on a 80 degree days (obviously running way lean), so I did an auto tune routine. It screwed my tune up so bad that it ran awful! It is now in the hands of Jerry, at Rawhide Harley in Olathe (one of very few places in the KC metro area that can Dino a trike) for a new tuner and a Dino tune. Rawhide is awesome!! Expensive, but awesome. The trike will be ready for Sturgis trip in August…

I was checking out bikes to buy. I went to a HD dealership 40 minutes from my house. They said they could get it done. Well they didn’t do it. I went to my home town HD. Which is owned by a man with a good reputation. They got it done and they all the staff are willing to help you even after my purchase. They always have smiling faces. My HD Dealership is Great South HD in Newnan Georgia. I went from a 2000 Fatboy to a 2010 Road king classic. Have a great and safe weekend 👍👍👍☝️☝️☝️😎😎🇺🇸🇺🇸✝️✝️

Makes a big difference when you have a good, dependable and honest dealer.

I have two dealers close to home. One is inviting and seemingly honest about the prices. The other has very pushy sales people and the hidden fees at the end will shock you. I can’t imagine how they ever sell a bike. That’s a huge turnoff for me. Good video, thanks for sharing 👊🏼

My local dealership has been good but recently it seems to have had a large turn over in employees which has left it with a different vibe.

Bought my last 2 bikes used from the owner.
I do not use dealerships for service or repair. Do it myself or go to an independent shop.

Good thing is if your home dealership isn’t good then there is almost always another dealership less than 100 miles away

The dealership that I bought my bike at the sales manager was so pushy. He was all about filling out a credit application first. The salesman finally came over, and I told him he that if the manager came over, I would leave.

That's my dealer. I ordered my 2004 Softail Standard through this dealer. Still buy my oil and filters and other maintenance items there.

I walked into my local Harley shop recently, never again! A soon as i walked in, i was stared at as if I didn't even blong in there. No one greeted me, i walked around for a half hour, and all i got were stares
Apparently, i didn't fit the Harley "mode."
I walked out, and I'll nver go back
