I was 15 years old when I watched this bit in 1987. I laughed so hard I almost passed out. My mother is Korean and my dad is white. Watching this I realized most mothers must be like this. When I was a McDonald's-loving child, my mother made the exact same damn green pepper, onion, egg, and paprika burger Eddie described - and I specifically wanted a McDonald's burger! I remember being repulsed and critical of her putting green peppers and an egg into the meat mixture! She told me this is how McDonald's makes their burgers and to stop complaining. I tasted it and cried 😭, "This isn't a McDonald's burger!"

When you're a child with no job, no money, and no car, you're helpless and at the mercy of your mother with that big black iron skillet and her "house burgers"!

I made "welfare burgers" for my kids, my son used to HATE it. He actually used to cry and sit on the floor and kick his legs NOT to eat it, bc it wasn't McDonalds. But now? My son brings HIS son to my home to get one of "mammas welfare burgers." My son BEGS me to make them now. Whenever I look out the window & I see my son & grandson coming up the walk with flowers for me, for no reason--I know it's "welfare burger" time. 😂😂😂
