Black & Decker Air Station Fix and UltraSonic Cleaner Update
My Black & decker air station pump stopped pumping air. I tore it apart to see if I could get it running again.

Thanks for the video. My problem was totally different but you took the fear out of taking this thing apart. There are two 2 silver gaskets/discs one has a spring. The spring one had popped out so I simply put it back in and it worked but as it was pumping the other one popped out. I took the unit apart again and popped that in and it blew up all 4 tires two of which were flat. I actually really like this unit and am glad that I may squeeze another few years out of it.

Hey, that was a great video and fantastic instructions. You're the man!! My Black and Decker had the exact same problem. I had a little trouble opening her up at first, but after seeing your redneck persuasion, I persisted and she popped open like an Easter Egg. I replaced the little tube with some rubber tubing that went to an old brake cylinder bleeding kit, and it worked like a charm. The tube was a little thinner, so I couldn't use the spring clamps on it, but it's holding up just fine. I just inflated my bicycle tires to 60 lbs. and all four of the tires on my Jeep to 32 psi. I can't thank you enough. You saved me sixty bucks and more importantly, a trip to Home Depot. Keep spreading that Redneck wisdom.

Thank you! Exact same problem, but there was enough hose left to cut it at the break and push it back on.

Awesome video! I have two of these and one of them has been acting up, I wasn't sure about taking it all apart (if it was even possible) so I wanted to find a reference to see if it can or if it's all factory molded and can't be done, as they try to get you to either send it in to have it repaired at the factory or make it unrepairable so you have to buy another, which my searches only seemed to find used ones and different newer models that don't have the features this one did....So now I know I can fix this myself, very helpful video!

Thanks for this video. Do you know if the air hose can be replaced? Thanks.

Thanks for the video. From the sound of my AS, I may have blown the same hose. Motor runs, I get a little pressure at the chuck(not more than 10-15#); but can't fill a bicycle tire with that!
I'm going to take a chance by following your video and see if I can get some more life from this unit that is about 15 years old! Cheers PS: not sure what hose I will use...might run by the store and try to replicate the original and find a tiny clamp.

The plastic gearbox inside the compressor discouraged me from buying the compressor

I have the exact same problem you found, cracked air pressure hose. However I cannot get the hose off. It is held on by a tight coiled spring clamp, just like you found. Please explain how you were able to remove/release the spring. Thank you.

is there any sufficient air flow / pressure to dry parts of enduro bike after washing ?

-AmericanRedneck, I have one of these, and the gauge works fine, but the compressor takes about 5 times as long now to pump things up. Car tires take 5 minutes to go from 25-35 PSI. This is so slow I worry about the unit overheating before it reaches the desired pressure. Has anyone come across this and a fix? EDIT: this use to work really fast, but something has worn out. I'm not afraid of taking it apart, but is there a part I can replace or fix?

i have one of these as i fixed a problem as the diodes shorted on the board for the 120 volt side and blew the fuse as when the radio shack was still open i was able to get 4 new diodes soldered in but left the long ends on them so they can get proper airflow to be cooled. as it works good as new as i bypassed the fuse and been using it since with no problems went with beefier diodes as the motors in these air stations are two permanent Magnet Dc motors one for the 120 volt side the other for the 12 v side. as this don't inflate as fast as my original black and decker air station from 1988 made in Hunt valley md. inside it uses a housing from a black and decker 1/2 drill more robust. but most parts for it are now obselete for it now. but still works great.
