The breakdancing opera star of Glyndebourne | Times Reports

The Sunday Times talks to Jakub Józef Orliński, a breakdancing countertenor from Poland who is singing the title role in Glyndebourne's production of Rinaldo this season.

Cara Sposa is one of my favorite Arias when sung by a Contralto singer. Their heavy, dark voices have a natural mournful, haunting, emotive quality that l love. I am a Contralto myself. Jakub is a wonderful artist, he stands out among other counter tenors because he does not sound like a mezzo soprano, instead he sounds more like a smoky Contralto. I am very happy for him he was given such an amazing role.

Jakub Orliński and Marcin Patrzałek, two young boys from Poland, one dances breakdance, and sings classical music, the other one plays classical music on the guitar. They are both fantastic! I am ever so proud of them!
