Glad I chose to stick with my Pixel 6 Pro

Let's be honest, this isn't so much a review/comparison of cameras, but of software processing.
The Pixel 7 is new and will most likely get several updates over time that will take its photographic capability beyond the currently more mature Pixel 6 in all areas.

Quite similar. The biggest weakness of P6P is that it takes ages to take a night mode shot.

With camera updates on phones am always left wondering whether it’s an upgrade or it’s just spicing a little bit to up the market

Its clear that phones nowadays has reached their peak capability, upgrading doesn’t seem to have an effect on our daily phone usage at all.

Great job. Can you compare the native image quality of the P6 Pro's 4x camera at 4x vs the P7 Pro's 5x at 5x? I've heard the results may be surprising.

The 7 Pro has more details in the shadows but that has the disadvantage of making the image a little flatter compared to the 6. Personally I think that's a better scenario as you'll have less noise in the shadows compared to the 6 if you were to bring it up in post.

I'm liking the better colors on the 7 Pro so far, which is definitely an improvement.

Using 2x in portraits is a huge L and not how it's meant to be used. Take a step closer and use 1x.

Dude! The background blur in the night mode portrait was not better on the 6 Pro. More blur does not equal better blur - in fact, if you look at the 6 Pro image where you zoomed for a second, you'll quickly notice that the edge detection has completely screwed up, making the background blur useless whether you like the stronger DOF effect more or not.

Heyyy Man, love your work. It would be really nice if you did a social media test, testing the camera on social media apps such as insta and snapchat

The selfie test is a toss up because of the different sensor resolutions and the wider field of view on the 7 pro's front camera. They both have fixed focus so the issue here is likely you needed to keep your hand a bit further away on one of the devices to get the focus plane in the right spot. They dont have autofocus on either front facing cameras

Let's now call these devices mobile cameras and not mobile phones as so much attention is given to how well the camera works!

The way the pixel 7 pro works with the cropping and layering the different lens pictures, is that just software ? So basically the 6 pro should be able to take on this new way of zooming?

The most ideal is to use a 2x optical zoom lens for portraits. But since most Pixel doesn't have it, they got to opt for digital zoom. You may argue it's not using the whole main sensor. You are not wrong, but wide lens tends to distort at a shorter focal length and the subject's nose would become bigger.

Please, stop using 2x with portrait mode! With 1x you'll get much better results.
And thank you for the content ✌️

The background separation for portraits is nice if you just point, shoot, and post (which I understand is what most people want). I actually prefer the pixel's portrait mode though because it includes more of the original background details in the final image. Means I have more options and creative room when post-processing images myself.

Love how this channel just straight up says it how it is. No fluff. No bias.

The real reason why the 7 sucks is because Google needs to sell more 8s in the future. Like taking away face lock but bringing it back as a feature...

I have a question if anyone could answer. I won't be buying the pro phones as I'm not an expert photographer but I do like taking photos on my travels. Is the camera any better on the 7 than 6 (non-pro)? I want it buy a new phone for taking photos, the pixel 6 is cheaper by £100 than the 7.... Is there much difference just for pulling out my phone and taking a normal photo of what's in front of me?
