What are classification of Hydrocarbons?
On the basis of structure, hydrocarbons are divided into two main classes:
 Open chain or Aliphatic Hydrocarbons
 Closed chain or Cyclic Hydrocarbons
Open chains of carbon may be straight or branched. Open chain hydrocarbons have been further subdivided into two categories.
 Saturated Hydrocarbons
 Unsaturated Hydrocarbons
