Just did the math on how many shoots I need to do a month to actually do this full time. Working on my strategy to hit those goals and thinking through what my value is will definitely help me fine tune my strategy. Thank you for this video!

Everyone talks about but passion doesn't = skill. Very interesting video, and probably some good advice for a lot of people. I can't even imagine the skill needed to make money as a photographer.

I need to watch this another 20 times and bury everything into my mind. I only wish it was an hour long! Thanks for the great advice.

I live in a smaller town (Asheville NC) with a ton of small businesses. I had the idea while watching this video that I could make postcards featuring some of my images that may speak to each business and then send those postcards to those businesses as an initial outreach. Offering my services, offering to set up a time to meet or a call, with the added bonus that they get to see literally what I see through the camera in the form of the image on that postcard.

Hands down one of the best videos you’ve put out in terms of value. Simple yet effective. Appreciate the info and help on breaking it down.

Excellent video, love these business videos. Value is definitely multifaceted beyond good quality. More often than not, if quality is your only selling point, you won't earn as much as you could. Fast turn around times, excellent customer service & shoot experience, having an easy payment/contract process, being a pleasure to work with, ability to generate ROI (huge), and specialized knowledge of an industry will all make you more money than the guy that just shoots great photos. Be a problem solver and provide a great experience.

How would someone make a career from solely being a landscape photographer? I love photography and would love for it to become my main stream of income however my problem is I don’t enjoy or want to do portraits or weddings or model shooting etc… basically my passion lies in landscape/adventure photography not with photographing people. Which always seems to be the main theme with these kinds of videos.

only just stumbled over your yt channel after having been a keen follower on ig for quite some time now. i love your photography, that is what keeps me subbed. i have also come to enjoy your video work a lot and must say that you are hugely inspiring in many respects. photography, videography, mindset, attitude, drive, style, sports... i never say this about anyone, but i do actually aspire to be more like you. looking forward to more of your content, hopefully some off-topic / bts stuff as well. also looking forward to growing and developing myself as a person and photographer. thanks man!

Finding the clients is the real battle and not always skill level, there are many pros who are starving artists, let alone less experienced photographers, everyone talks about what you can do and sell to as a photographer, nobody teaches where to find those clients or how to land them.

You just changed my whole concept on how I'm moving forward. In a good way.

These videos are really helpful...a follow up video on how methods for gaining clients would be really helpful. Its tough to even get a couple a month and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have a website and Instagram and also do plenty of collab shoots to stay active and post. Should I be cold calling or what?

My problem isn't providing value. My problem is just getting clients. I'm lucky to get one client a month, much less 10. And I'm good enough to know where I'm at, skill wise. I'm better than average, yet I see photographers well below my skill level (and probably setting their camera to automatic) make a living. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

I'm glad to see the comments here are more thoughtful than on FStoppers. It's TOTALLY possible to hit six figures in photography. I know a number of photographers that do. Bravo on encouraging people and sharing your knowledge!

Would love some tips on turning 1 time clients into long term clients - is there a retainer fee needed? Do you charge them monthly or all at once? Just some thoughts I had while watching this. Thanks for the advice!

Awesome video Evan! Love the business strategy video. In 2022, my goal is to have photography replaced my 9-5 income. I am working on YouTube, reaching out to YouTubers, and reaching out to successful photographers if they are hiring a second shooter. Basically going all out and making sure I put in the hustle if I want this dream to be a reality. These videos are inspiration! Thank you
