Now that's crazy! Instead of plopping the heatsink on top you can use a socked 370 Heatsink too, since they clip on to the socket. Great work as always

Awesome, you did it, so cool to see that its working so perfect. Nice that you showed my comment 😅 For myself i created an Adapter for the CPU cooler to not install it on the Socket 370, to avoid to much force to the pins of the socket of the interposer when you remove or install the cooler. For an Adapter you can use the original holes on the Mainboard of the Xbox :)

Awesome that someone actually did the socket 370 mod instead of directly soldering the CPU to the board. Tbh this is a much better mod than the latter because these CPUs aren't being made anymore, and I don't really like when parts that aren't in production anymore get irreversible modifications. ESPECIALLY the 1.4 GHz CPUs.

With these mods Windows 98 and Windows XP is a must. There should be a way to run those operating systems. A custom bios would be nice too to take full advantage of these mods with Xbox's UI.

Extremely interested in buying a 1.4Ghz and 256MB Xbox upgrade from you. Hope your experience keeps going well, that socket solution looks wicked. Crazy to see that through hole socket being surface soldered too.

I'm glad you installed a socket this time around. I was concerned in your last video when you just hard soldered that CPU onto the interposer. I half expected it to be dead when you booted it up. Good video man, you deserve more subs

These consoles are troopers! I have a crystal one, combined with a crt and a huge hard drive, it's an amazing box! It can do music, it can do movies, it can do games, it even can do some tv tricks, which is insane for such an old piece of tech, may these consoles live forever! Can you do the mod and supply a cpu if payed for? And try the hdmi mod, seems to be pretty challenging ;)

Good to know about this mod, looking into just putting the money down to get a bga rework machine already so I can start offering this service also. Appreciate the video

Installing a socket is a game changer because you can buy cheaper 370 tualatin processors to begin like Celerons tualatins (way cheaper and almost same performance) that had same performance as P3 because they had not restrited cache, or like the 1.26ghz pentium3 that is cheaper than the 1.4ghz and then someday change to 1.4-1.5
Got my 1.3ghz 370 tualatin Celeron for 30 bucks... when the 1.48ghz costs 200$... but im stuck with the interposer install, can you reball mine? 😅
