My first 15 years of my life was in Cambodia. Eating insects was not something that you see in the market. I remember eating cricket once that my mother made. Snails are cooked a certain way to be edible, not common. Khmer Rouge changes everything. People ate anything and everything to survive. Now they bring those things to make tourist hype to boost their tourist industry which is number one major revenue for the country.

Noodles looked really delicious, cheers with the beer. I have heard you can get a beer as low as .50 cents. I would definitely check out there Independence Day. Hey Claire, I'm French with Vietnamese roots, and I've visited Southeast Asian countries a lot since 2007. Every country I've been to is different, especially Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, which are part of French Indochina. Pattaya in Thailand is like a base and chill spot for American GIs during the Vietnam War. I really like Cambodia, which is less developed than Vietnam, but it's catching up with help from the Chinese government. However, Cambodia has fewer remarkable sites compared to its neighbors Vietnam and Thailand. It has very few outlets to the sea but has the amazing Angkor Wat temple and the great Tonle Sap lake that you absolutely have to visit. I hope they make it onto your list of places to check out. Have a great trip discovering these countries before they really change because of overtourism. So long!
